This was our first trip to Italy and what an experience it was. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer! The weather was beautiful and our traveling companions were great.

The tour basically started in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. After a day and a half there, we visited the ruins of Pompeii on our way back to Rome. The highlight of our Rome adventure was a private tour of the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museum. We were there with 4 other Tauck tours, so only 150 people were in there. We really needed more time in Rome. But of course, I can say that about most of the areas we visited.

Cinque Terre and Florence were overwhelming. There was so much to see and so little time. Guess we need to plan our return trip! The one place I would probably not want to come back to is Venice. The most famous site in Venice, St. Marks and the surrounding square, is also in the middle of a giant shopping area. Felt like we were at the local fashion mall with canals for the aisles.

The food was just wonderful. I've never (knowingly) had home-made pasta before and it was to die for. I don't think I can go back to cellophane wrapped pasta again.

The only down side of the trip was that I took about 2000 pictures, but about 700 were corrupted due to a bad memory card. I was able to recover about a third of the damaged pictures. Tough lesson.....test out new hardware thoroughly before heading out on a trip.
