The workshop was part of the Mentor Series of Photographic workshops put on by Popular Photography Magazine. I had never been on a workshop before and I wasn't sure what to expect. All in all it was a great experience, but it was very fast paced and that took away form some of the learning. My interest in photography lies mainly in landscape photography. Unfortunately that was only a small portion of this workshop. We spent several hours at MesaVerde National Park and I was able to visit some ruins that were closed the last time I was there. Then we spent the late afternoon photographing a group of kayakers who had been hired to travel up and down the rapids of the Animas River in Durango. The following morning we had more action shots, shooting mountain bikers on a trail outside of town. In the afternoon we were in Silverton and shot some models dressed in period dress. That evening we went and spend a couple of hours at the Rodeo in Durango. We spent the following morning at the steam train yard, watching the three trains get ready for their daily run to Silverton. The workshop was over at noon. So we did all of this in two and a half days. It was way too rushed for my liking.
