From a photographer's point of view, Old Town Tallinn was the prettiest city we visited on this trip. This medieval city is also a Unesco World Heritage site. The tower shown above is called the "Fat Margaret" tower. It was built to protect the harbor which it faces.
Most of the city's walls are intact
The Great Coastal Gate leads to the main road in Tallinn (where all the tourist shops are located).
St. Olav's Church
Turning off the main street puts you in a part of town with few businesses.
Without the shopping you can get a feel for what the town looked like in its day.
The outer walls are very well preserved.
If you have the time, I would recommend walking on top of the city walls.
A small garden outside the city wall.
This shot reminded me of a French painting. It looks so peaceful.
The side "streets" were very rough and slippery in the rain.
Once you got back onto the main street, the building took on an Art Nouveau or Art Deco look.
We were treated to Medieval music played with Medieval instruments.
The Town Market although there are mostly shops for the tourists now.
This contraption played music and had all sorts of parts that moved.
The down spouts from the roof of the town hall Made to look like a dragon's head.
Covered walkway on the outer wall.
The eastern gate to the old town.
Tamara outside the eastern gate.
This was a typical site in the ports we visited. Two or three other ships with one of them being a Princess ship. Our is the second from the left.
Tallinn's Old City has a beautiful skyline.
Near the ship they had tethered hot air balloon rides. What a way to shoot the city. I passed.
