Guggenheim Museum Fountain

Our excursion from the ship consisted of two venues: Visiting the Guggenheim museum and visiting the old city where we were treated to some traditional Tapas and wine. Our visit to the museum was to the outside only as the building complex could be considered a work of art.

Our guide kept referring to this flower sculpture as the puppy. We thought it was a language issue as clearly it was a cat.

We were right. It was a cat!

Turned out to be a puppy after all!

The museum is the main draw for tourism to Bilbao. It was also the motivator for the clean-up of the river area.

Tapas

Basically an horsdoeuvre or finger food. We really loved this style of eating in Spain.

We saw this young girl dancing for her father. She had such joy in her face that we all started taking her picture.

A bandstand in the park along the river. There is a cafe in the bottom of the structure.

The waterfront was really cleaned up after the Guggenheim decided to build their museum here. That's a funicular leading up the hill in the top center of this picture.
