Shafer Canyon Overlook
The winds were ferocious, gusting at least to 40 or 50 mph. Not the place to be! The dirt road in the canyon originates at the rim and is the Shafer Trail Road.

Mesa Arch.
This is probably the most photographed arch in the world. It's a beautiful shot of the canyon below and the mountains in the distance. This shot was taken on our reconnaissance trek to the arch in preparation for making the trip the following morning in the dark.
On the next morning we ran into overcast skies and high winds. A bust for photography.
Mesa Arch at Sunrise
Our third trip to the arch was a success!

Dead Horse Point State Park is adjacent to Canyonlands. We took the opportunity to shoot the sunrise on our last morning in the area.
