This is the first set of ruins on the Chapin Mesa called the Far View Ruins. Chapin was the only Mesa that was open at the time of my visit, in April of 2004. Wetherill, the other Mesa, isn't open until the end of May. The Far View Community is out in the open on the Chapin Mesa, affording little protection from the winter snows. For this reason, it is believed that the village was only used in the warmer times of the year.
