For my 60th. birthday, Chris and Erin decided to take me hiking and photo taking in the Desolation Wilderness near Lake Tahoe. Since my birthday was in February and Lake Tahoe is snow bound, we decided to go in the middle of May. As it turned out that was too early as the snow level was around 7,400 feet and the trails were completely covered with snow. In fact we wandered off the trail in several cases without realizing it.

We ended up getting in a bunch of hikes with wonderful weather and great scenery. This is an area I would definitely recommend. The hiking is strenuous but the scenery is spectacular.
