The Bent Pyramid (in the background)

This was an intermediate step in the migration from the step pyramid to the smooth pyramids like the famous ones at Giza. This pyramid starts off with 52 degree slopes and then shifts to a more gradual angle of 43 degrees. Lots of speculation as to why but the most widely accepted theory seems to follow that the Pyramid was at risk of damage with the steeper angle.
