One of the surprises for me was the Solar Boat museum, shown here. It contains a 43 metre long boat from one of the five boat pits sunk around the Cheops Pyramid. The boat was discovered in 1954 in the form of a "kit" consisting of 1,200 pieces along with instructions. It took fourteen years to rebuild the boat. While they were intended for use by the Pharaoh in the afterlife, their exact usage is unknown.
