The highlight in Death Valley was a place called the Race Track Playa, a valley about 50 miles northwest from Furnace Creek. We had to travel on a 27 mile washboard to get to the Race Track. It's a seasonally dried lake bed. The race track is knows for its "racing" stones which seem to float across the wet lake bed and leave tracks behind. This phenomenon has never been caught on film. The place was a real treat if you can take the 54 mile back jarring trip.
