The Wild Goose Pagoda is also known as the Big Goose Pagoda. It was built in 589 AD during the Sui Dynasty. In 647 AD the temple was rebuilt by Emperor Tang Gaozong. The grounds today house an active Buddhist monastery as well as a very nice museum. It was quite interesting to find out that much of the architecture and clothing we normally attribute to Japan actually came from the Tang Dynasty.
