White Sands National Monument - New Mexico
EXIT
After visiting Carlsbad I decided to stop by White Sands as it was basically on my way home. I spent a couple of hours here and by then the sun was too high up for good picture taking. The "White Sand" is actually Gypsum and acts very much like dry snow. Without saying so, one would think this was snow.
The surface is a bit crusty and not much grows here.
The winds constantly change the mounds of gypsum and these plants are constantly struggling to stay on top of the sand.
It's easy to lose your bearing if your not careful.
That speck on top of the dunes at the horizon is another photographer.

After two hours the pictures all look the same.
This is a 180 degree panoramic shot.
